Project Background
The mission of Master Naturalists includes educating the public on topics that promote beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within our communities. Outreach encompasses any volunteer activity that educates members of the public about natural resource topics consistent with Master Naturalist training or that serves to tell the public about the Virginia Master Naturalist program or the Old Rag chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists.

ED (Education) Activities (All activities under Outreach are ED)
Field Trips
ORMN volunteers lead a field trip for members of the public covering natural resource topics consistent with Master Naturalist training.

- Location: Various locations in the 6-county area covered by the Old Rag Chapter or elsewhere in Virginia as appropriate.
- Physical Requirements/Safety Hazards: None known.
- Special Requirements: Mastery of the general topic, ability to communicate effectively, interest in educational role. If youth are involved, ORMN volunteers must review the Risk Management policy on the Virginia Master Naturalist website, paying special attention to the “Above Suspicion Policy.”
- Time Commitment: Varies, includes preparation time.
